Social Chair – Amy Springsteel

amy

Amy Springsteel joined as Social Chair this year to assist in the diversification of event offerings and help reach out to the older alumni base. She graduated from FSU with both her BS and MS in child development and immediately embarked on a foray in the education industry. Amy parlayed her educational marketing and management experiences into a second career in fundraising and marketing and was appointed Vice President at The John O’ Donnell Company overseeing the firm’s operations, marketing and business development. Following her role at JOD, Amy’s entrepreneurial spirit lead her to start her own consulting company, Competitive Edge Consulting Associates, offering a range of marketing and fundraising services. Amy has been instrumental in raising millions of dollars in grants, sponsorships and donations for many non-profit organizations and increasing the revenue of various small and mid-sized for-profit businesses. Her fondest memories of FSU include 3 am false dorm fire alarms, Little Sister fraternity parties, Deion Sanders sightings, dancing all night at CPA and The Library (not Strozier), hanging at the Phyrst and CJ’s and of course, being a part of FSU’s rise to the top football rankings (which she is confident will come again soon). Amy currently lives in Manhattan and relishes every moment of the New York experience.

Scholarship Co-Chair – Brian Gitman

Brian Gitman

Brian was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, and, after a couple stints in other educational powerhouse cities like Flint, Michigan, and Daytona Beach, Florida, he finally got it right and attended FSU from 2002-2004; graduating with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. While at FSU, he was involved with AKPsi, studied abroad in London for a summer, and started the Seminole Riders motorcycle club. After graduating FSU, he decided to spend a few years in Austin, Texas. But, the lure of NYC was strong, so he left and came to the city for the experience and to give applying to the FDNY a whirl. With a little luck, both worked out fortuitously and he’s currently living in The Village and working as a fireman on the Lower East Side. He was recently tapped to help out with the FSU 9/11 Scholarship, due to his connections in the FDNY. His other interests include walking aimlessly around the city, running, riding motorcycles, and traveling. He misses most about Tally: cheap rent, free pool at Pockets, having dinner and $4 pitchers at Pour Paul’s on Sunday and Monday nights, Gut Boxes, Pub Subs, game days, Jefferson Point pool parties, and it only being $1.50 extra to make a drink a double.
